Article: Beautiful Bermuda

Beautiful Bermuda

Beautiful Bermuda

Sean and I had an incredible mini vacay to Bermuda.  It is a place I heard was amazing and we both had never been. We were there from a Wednesday to a Saturday and stayed in an Airbnb.  The weather was mostly in the 80s and some rain since it is their stormy season, but overall, some of the best beaches I have seen.  Some of the things that made it a great place to visit for a short vacation:
1.  Quick Flight:  It was a little over two hours direct.  That was amazing.
2.  Public Transportation:  We took the bus everywhere.  There was some waiting at bus stops, but overall, Bermudians are SO nice and welcoming, the buses and ferries are very clean and well used.  It was a great way to see the island and do things on a budget.
3.  Beaches:  Absolutely stunning.  We stayed a few minute walk from Elbow Beach.  We also went to Long Bay Beach in Somerset (stunning), Horseshoe Bay and Jobston Cove.  All were stunning and beautiful in their own way.  We didn't get to any others but would love to continue to explore more the next time we go.
4.  Rail Trail:  Sean and I like to take runs together when we travel and this rail trail runs along the island and you can hop on and off and get to a bus stop easily.  It was fun seeing all of the different plants and felt like we were hiking at some points on the trail.
Definitely something we didn't expect to find and are so glad we did!
Some things that were tricky:
1.  Weather:  We lucked out but hit some rain.  The weather can be touch and go and only is really in the 80s June through October....otherwise it is 60s-70s.  We were willing to risk it and insured our tickets but I know some people do encounter some rainy weather.
2.  Cost of Things:  Even shopping at the grocery store was a bit more expensive and restaurants as well. You have to remember that it is in the middle of the ocean so everything needs to be imported unless made there.  Something we knew going in and were prepared for.  We often go get breakfast, lunch and snack things when we are staying at an Airbnb so that definitely helps costs too.
As you can see, the pros definitely outweigh the cons and we would definitely go back and check out more of Bermuda.
Let me know what you think about it if you have been in the comments below.
We would love to hear!
I included some pics from the different beaches and some of the flowers growing at that time.  I would KILL for a hedge of hibiscus in my yard......amazing what can grow in a tropical climate.  JEALOUS!
